This Is The Most Important Feature Of Your Face…And It’s Not Your Eyes!

No, it’s not your Eyes!

As a makeup artist, there are certain parts of the face I spend the most time and this is because after doing 100’s of looks I found that there is one thing that makes all the difference in every makeup. And no, it not your eyes, its…wait for it…its…your Eyebrows!!

Interestingly, makeup artists didn’t come up with this. Science did!

Science claims that the eyebrows are the singular most distinguishing feature of the face. These are some of the facts I was able to pull out;

  • It is the singular most important feature of your face, according to Yahoo health
  • Lush full lush brows can make you look years younger, science has provided evidence to back this up. Cara Delevingne is a typical example.
  • Research shows that full deep brows make you look more attractive.
  • As we grow older we will lose some hair and our brows will naturally thin out so we need to start nurturing our brows for our older self.
  • If you want to leave a lasting memory in the minds of those you come across, you should have nice looking brows. It’s an easy way to stay memorable. A research was done on 25 celebrities, in one picture they were without their brows and the other without their eyes. The study shows that 56% of people were able to identify the celebrities without their eyes and only 46% of those who were without their brows. Moral of the research is this, eyebrows are important for facial recognition.

While this may seem far fetched, it is true. Our eyebrows convey different emotions. It can make us look younger, attractive, striking, angry, surprised, tired or even tacky just by the way it is groomed. Imagine that single strip of hair saying all that and you are completely unaware?! I’ll write another post on the different brow styles and shapes and what it conveys.

A few things to keep in mind when grooming your brows;

  1. Never shave off all your brow hair, never! You can always work with whatever you have.
  2. Do not draw a thin line in the place of your brows. If you have naturally thin brows fill it up, fuller brows makes you look younger.
  3. Do not draw a straight line in place of your brows. Give it a little arch or lift just around the brow bone. Straight brows give a flat and emotionless appearance.
  4. Do not shade your brows with black even if you have black hair. Use strokes instead of shading. It’s a fine line between gothic and cute.
  5. If you have unruly brow hair, use your brow gel to keep it in place.
  6. If you must microblade do so with a professional. Many amateurs have ruined several brows, I have seen blue, grey and other colors. Be careful with these folks. Also, if you have extremely oily skin, I suggest you don’t.
  7. If you have bushy brows, get it tamed regularly. You wouldn’t allow the hair on your legs to get out of control, why do that to your brows?
  8. At the very worst, if you do not know how to shape your brows, leave as is or seek the help of a professional.

Hope you enjoyed the post.
